My name is Alan Diamond, ATC and I have been appointed by Maccabi USA Sports for Israel as Chairman of the Athletic Trainer’s for the 18th World Maccabiah Games to be held July 2009. I am looking for any Certified Athletic Trainer who would be interested in gaining international experience at the 3rd largest sporting event in the world. Applications and resumes are currently being accepted. There are expected to be 9000 athletes, representing approximately 60 countries. Team USA is expected to have a delegation of 850-875 athletes and 75-100 coaches and staff. The official dates of the games are July 13-23 at various venues throughout Israel. We will be having a pre-games camp in Israel from approximately July 3-11, which will include the opportunity to see and experience the homeland of 3 major religions of the world. The cost of this experience for all Certified Athletic Trainer’s will be $ 750.00 and will include round trip airfare from New York to Israel, hotel accommodations, pre-arranged tours/excursions, and meals. I would like to ask the leadership of each district to help get this information out to all ATC’s in your respective districts. This is going to be a terrific experience anyone has not had the opportunity to travel abroad and gain international experience as a Certified Athletic Trainer.
